Teaching Expository/Infonnational Writing: Summary and Analysis of NonFiction Passages

This workshop can be one or two days, 5 hours each day. Day 1 is a rerequisite to Day 2. Teachers learn how to teach students to summarize expository passages first and then analyze them after that.

Day 1 covers the following:

  • Reading expository/infonnational text and writing both summary and analytical paragraphs

Day 2 covers the following:

  • Writing the Mini-Research Paper
