JSWP Orientation: Writing for Social Studies and the Social Sciences

Social studies and social science teachers are not responsible for the teaching of writing, but their standards oftentimes require writing in their classes. Join this orientation to learn how you can motivate and guide your students to explain what they learned through writing. Participants will see how the Jane Schaffer Writing Program® provides a roadmap for students to write clear and concise expository and informational short responses, paragraphs, and essays to questions about the subject which they are learning. If you teach one of the following courses, you’ll benefit from this training: Anthropology, Archaeology, Economics; Geography, Government, History, Law, Linguistics, Government, Politics, Psychology, Social Studies, and Sociology.
